Responsible gaming

This guide is about a hotel, not about gambling, but the hotel shares a roof with a casino. Here is what you should know, including where to get help at any hour.

The age rule

In Quebec the casino is for adults 18 and over, and the rule extends to the casino's bars, its restaurants and its theatre, except for specific shows. Anyone who looks under 25 may be asked for government-issued photo ID; photocopies and photos on a phone are refused. If you are 18 or younger, the hotel itself and Arôme are open to you, the rest of the complex is not.

The service is known in French as Jeu : aide et référence. It is the number printed by the operator on its own pages.

Visitors from Ontario

If you live across the river, Ontario's ConnexOntario line, 1-866-531-2600, offers free and confidential help with gambling, around the clock. Ontario's casino age is 19.

Self-exclusion

Loto-Québec runs a self-exclusion programme. Its help pages describe periods from three months to five years, signed at the customer-service desk of any of its casinos, and irrevocable for the chosen period. At the Casino du Lac-Leamy the programme uses facial recognition for people who have enrolled and consented; the operator says that when a face does not match, the person is not identified and nothing is stored.

Signs worth taking seriously

Any one of these is a reason to call the line. It costs nothing, and nobody will lecture you.

Our own rules

We do not publish gaming offers, promotions or tips; we do not link to online gambling; and our desk does not book anything casino-related. The casino has its own fact page here only because it shares the building and sets the age rules for much of it. Quebec's state casinos are supervised by the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux.
