Which law applies
We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, because the hotel and many of our readers are in Quebec, Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector. Questions or requests go to [email protected]; that address reaches the person responsible for personal information at the site.
What we collect
Only what you send through a room-request form:
- your name and email address (required), and a phone number if you add one;
- the number of guests, your arrival and departure dates, and the room or package you choose;
- anything you write in the message box;
- your consent to be contacted, the kind of form you used and the page you sent it from.
The server that receives the form also records the time and the IP address of the request, to stop abuse such as automated spam. We do not ask for card details, identity documents or dates of birth, and you should not send them.
Why we use it
To answer your request: check availability and rates for your dates, write back, and — if you decide to go ahead — pass the details needed for the booking to the hotel or the booking partner that will take it. We do not use your details for marketing, we do not sell them, and we do not add you to a newsletter.
Who sees it
- Our booking desk.
- The hotel's reservations team or a booking partner, only when we ask about your dates or when you confirm a booking, and only the details needed for that.
- Our service providers, acting on our instructions: the hosting company (DigitalOcean, server in Frankfurt, Germany) and the email service that delivers our mail. Your information may therefore be stored or processed outside Canada and Quebec, where local law applies; we choose providers that protect it by contract.
How long we keep it
As long as we need it to handle your request and any booking that follows, and for our records after that — no longer than 24 months from your last message. Then it is deleted.
Cookies, analytics and the map
This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or advertising tags. One page — how to get there — embeds a Google Maps map. When that page loads, the map is served by Google, which receives your IP address and may set cookies under its own privacy policy. On the home page the map is not loaded unless you click to show it. The "Open in Google Maps" and "Directions" links take you to Google's own site.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw your consent, or ask us to delete it, by writing to [email protected]. We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, to the Commission d'accès à l'information.
Security and incidents
The site is served only over HTTPS, the form is sent over an encrypted connection, and access to stored requests is limited to the desk. If an incident ever puts your information at risk of serious harm, we will tell you and the relevant authority, as the law requires.
