Water and gym

Pools, hot tubs and the gym

The outdoor pool is heated through the winter, and that single fact shapes a lot of stays here. The gym is free and open around the clock.

What the hotel publishes

Outdoor water in winter

Gatineau winters are long, and a heated pool you can swim in while snow sits on the deck is the most photographed thing about this hotel. It also changes how you pack: bring a swimsuit in January, and plan a swim after a day on the Rideau Canal Skateway, which the hotel puts 7.3 km away. Steam on the water is heaviest on the coldest days.

Pools and the spa

The pools belong to the hotel; the steam bath and sauna belong to the spa. Amerispa says its water facilities include "swimming pools, whirlpools, a steam bath and a sauna" and that access comes with a package or two hours of treatments. In short: hotel guests have the pools and hot tubs; spa guests also have the heat rooms.

Families

The hotel does not publish pool hours or an age rule for the pools. One reviewer quoted on KAYAK mentions an adults-only pool area after dark; that is a single comment from 2019, not a published rule, so ask at check-in if you are travelling with children. Lifeguard presence is not mentioned on the pages we read.

For a supervised swim outdoors in summer, the National Capital Commission's beach at Leamy Lake Park, a short way from the hotel, has lifeguards from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in season — in 2026 that ran from 12 June to 7 September.

The gym

Free, 24 hours a day, for hotel guests. The hotel lists no equipment, classes or trainers. For a run instead, the Leamy Lake pathway and the bike path the hotel describes, running towards Gatineau Park, start close to the door.
